A Perfect Circle is Maynard James Keenan's musically talented new group, it is not a side project. Tool is not gone for good though, Maynard looks forward to start recording the Tool album after this year's Canadian Somersault tour finishes. Maynard will have 3 weeks off at this point, and he will start to record the next tool album if the other band members are ready. Maynard has been trying to fire the other tool members up in recent interviews, so as to make sure they will be ready when he comes off from tour. FYI: Maynard wears a wig for APC concerts and photo shoots, he is still as bald as ever. As "Recreational Racism", Maynard and others played a series of covers country-style at the Viper Room in LA on August 15, 1999. Later that night, a new band called "A Perfect Circle" played their first public show.

The band was started by Billy Howerdel (maynards ex-roommate) and Paz, and came to feature Maynard only after its inception. They are absolutely phenomenal and may best be described as Tool but ten times better.(ok this was a lie, but I got you to my page, hehe, no band is better than tool, it's scientifically impossible) It's a little more melodic and less dark than Tool but with stronger lyrics and more rythm. The songs are phenomenal and are well worth the wait. I recommend Thinking of You, Rose, and Three Libras, but they are all great.

A Perfect Circle released their first album May 23rd which is a cd in which every track is phenomenal. The first single was released on April 17th and it is called Judith. A Perfect Circle are touring with NIN, and will be touring with the Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Eve 6 in this year's somersault tour in canada and The deftones will even guest star in the tour on the Vancouver date.

"3 Libras"

"Blue"

"Imagine"

"The Outsider"

"The Noose"

Band of the Week: PEARL JAM

Pearl Jam rose from the ashes of Mother Love Bone to become the most popular American rock & roll band of the '90s. After vocalist Andrew Wood overdosed on heroin in 1990, guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament assembled a new band, bringing in Mike McCready on lead guitar and recording a demo with Soundgarden's Matt Cameron on drums. Thanks to future Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons, the demo found its way to a 25-year-old San Diego surfer named Eddie Vedder, who overdubbed vocals and original lyrics and was subsequently invited to join the band (then christened Mookie Blaylock after the NBA player). Dave Krusen was hired as the full-time drummer shortly thereafter, completing the original lineup. Renaming themselves Pearl Jam, the band recorded their debut album, Ten, in the beginning of 1991, although it wasn't released until August; in the meantime, the majority of the band appeared on the Andrew Wood tribute project Temple of the Dog. Krusen left the band shortly after the release of Ten; he was replaced by Dave Abbruzzese.
Ten didn't begin selling in significant numbers until early 1992, after Nirvana made mainstream rock radio receptive to alternative rock acts. Soon, Pearl Jam outsold Nirvana, which wasn't surprising -- Pearl Jam fused the riff-heavy stadium rock of the '70s with the grit and anger of '80s post-punk, without ever neglecting hooks and choruses; "Jeremy," "Evenflow," and "Alive" fit perfectly onto album rock radio stations looking for new blood. Pearl Jam's audience continued to grow during 1992, thanks to a series of radio and MTV hits, as well as successful appearances on the second Lollapalooza tour and the Singles soundtrack (Stone Gossard also embarked on a side project called Brad, which released the album Shame in early 1993).

Despite their status as rock & roll superstars, the band refused to succumb to the accepted conventions of the music industry. The group refused to release any videos or singles from their second album, 1993's Vs. Nevertheless, it was another multi-platinum success, debuting at number one and selling nearly a million copies in its first week of release. On their spring 1994 American tour, the band decided not to play the conventional stadiums, choosing to play smaller arenas, including several shows on college campuses. Pearl Jam cancelled their 1994 summer tour, claiming they could not keep ticket prices below 20 dollars because Ticketmaster was pressuring promoters to charge a higher price. The band took Ticketmaster to the Justice Department for unfair business practices; while fighting Ticketmaster, they recorded a new album during the spring and summer of 1994. After the record was completed, the group fired Dave Abbruzzese, replacing him with former Red Hot Chili Peppers and Eleven drummer Jack Irons.

Vitalogy, the band's third album, appeared at the end of 1994. For the first two weeks, the album was only available as a limited vinyl release, but the record charted in the Top 60. Once Vitalogy was available on CD and cassette, the album shot to the top of the charts and quickly went multi-platinum. Pearl Jam continued to battle Ticketmaster in 1995, but the Justice Department eventually ruled in favor of the ticket agency. In early 1995, the band recorded an album with Neil Young. Meanwhile, Vedder toured with his wife Beth's experimental band Hovercraft in the spring of 1994 as Stone Gossard founded an independent record company; Mad Season, Mike McCready's side project with Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, released their first album, Above, in the spring of 1995. Comprised entirely of Neil Young songs, Mirror Ball appeared in the summer under Young's name; although the individual members of the band were credited, the name Pearl Jam did not appear on the cover due to legal complications. Pearl Jam released a single culled from the sessions, titled Merkinball and featuring the songs "I Got Id" and "Long Road," in the fall of 1995.

In late summer of 1996, Pearl Jam released their fourth album, No Code. Although the album was greeted with fairly positive reviews and debuted at number one, its weird amalgam of rock, worldbeat, and experimentalism dissatisfied a large portion of their fan base, and it quickly fell down the charts. The record's performance was also hurt by Pearl Jam's inability to launch a full-scale tour, due both to their battle with Ticketmaster and a reluctance to spend months on the road. The band spent most of 1997 out of the spotlight, working on new material; Gossard also released a second album with his side project Brad, titled Interiors. By the end of the year, Pearl Jam had completed a new, harder-rocking record entitled Yield. The album was greeted with enthusiastic reviews upon its February 1998 release, but its commercial fortunes weren't quite as clear cut. While their sizable cult embraced the album, sending it to number two its first week of release, Yield quickly slipped down the charts. Pearl Jam supported the record with a full-scale arena tour in the summer of 1998, issuing the concert LP Live on Two Legs at the end of the year; Jack Irons did not participate due to poor health, and was replaced by ex-Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron.

In 1999, Pearl Jam scored an unlikely pop radio smash with their cover of the J. Frank Wilson oldie "Last Kiss," originally released as the seventh in a series of fan club-only singles that had also featured several incongruous covers in the past. Demand from fans and radio programmers resulted in the nationwide release of "Last Kiss," and it eventually became the band's highest-charting pop hit to date, peaking at number two and going gold. The group returned in 2000 with the Tchad Blake-produced Binaural. In order to circumvent bootleggers, their subsequent European and American tours were recorded in full and released in an unprecedented series of double-CD sets, each of the 72 volumes featuring a complete concert. 2002 saw the release of Riot Act, a muscular -- and critically lauded -- collection of new songs that found the group dabbling in experimental art rock. Two anthologies arrived in 2003 and 2004, Lost Dogs: Rarities and B Sides and Rearviewmirror: Greatest Hits 1991-2003. They were followed in 2006 by the eponymous (and all-new) Pearl Jam, a number two hit on the album charts. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
<a Against the Machine in October 2000, the band's future was put into question. Within months rumors flew that ex-Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell would replace de la Rocha. And gossip fueled truth, for Cornell joined the rest of Rage in the studio in May 2001. The mix was great and a musical bond was in the making: Cornell, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, and Tom Morello spent the next year writing and recording. By spring 2002, the foursome were no longer going by the Rage Against the Machine name and signed on for Ozzfest. But before the summer tour even got underway, Cornell quit the new project. He claimed it wasn't moving forward in the direction he'd hoped for. The breakdown didn't last, for Cornell rejoined by early fall. After tossing around the idea of being called Civilian, they settled on Audioslave. The single "Cochise," named for the great American Indian chief who died free and unconquered, hit radio in September 2002, and Audioslave's Epic full-length was released that November. The album eventually went multi-platinum on the strength of "Cochise" and the moody rocker "Like a Stone," and Audioslave supported it with gigs that included 2003 Lollapalooza dates. Cornell, Morello, Wilk, and Commerford returned in May 2005 with Out of Exile. That same month they played an historic show in Havana, Cuba that marked that country's first outdoor show by an American rock band.
Here are some video clips from Audioslave.Enjoy :)

Damien Rice

<span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255); Kildare. He spent much of his childhood down by the River Liffey fishing...hours of catching little left plenty of time for thinking...
Damien was also part of an act called Juniper who managed to get a big record deal with Polygram, and released "The World Is Dead" and "Weatherman". However, all was not well. The record company put pressure on Damien to write upbeat radio friendly songs. Damien struggled and in despair one night stumbled onto to a song which became Amy. He left the band but the remains of Juniper became Bell X1.

In March 1999 he moved to Tuscany, then travelled around Europe, busking the streets. He arrived back to Dublin a year later, with a clear head, loaded with idea's, he approached his music with a new found freshness and decided to put some songs down.

Borrowing money from those that would lend it, he recorded his demo and sent it off to renowned producer and film composer, david Arnold (Bjork, James Bond). Arnold liked what he heard and provided enough money for Damien to buy his own mobile studio.

<img width='1' height='1' font-style: italic; color: rgb(255, 102, 0);">Michael Bublé's introduction to the music of the swing era came to him through his grandfather, who filled his grandson's ears with the sounds of the Mills Brothers, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and others. As Bublé eagerly absorbed the recordings, he began to realize that he wanted to be a singer and that this style of music, virtually foreign to his own generation, was what he wanted to perform. With his grandfather's assistance, Bublé soon learned a whole catalog of tunes and gained experience and exposure by singing as a guest with several local bands. While still in his teen years, he won the Canadian Youth Talent Search, released several independent albums, and performed in a musical review titled Swing that traveled across the U.S. It wasn't long before Bublé was introduced to Grammy-winning producer David Foster and signed his first major recording contract with Reprise Records. The two Canadians began work on a debut album that would incorporate Bublé's aptitude for pop standards into songs that spanned several decades. His self-titled debut disc was released in early 2003, and featured jazzy takes on old standards like "Fever" and "The Way You Look Tonight" as well as newer classics like Van Morrison's "Moondance" and the Bee Gees' "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart." Further exposure ensued with a world tour and appearances on several television programs like NBC's Today Show, in which he sang a duet with host Katie Couric. He finished off 2003 with an EP of holiday material, Let It Snow, and began 2004 with the live CD/DVD set Come Fly With Me. In 2005, It's Time was a numer one hit in Canada, Japan, Italy, and Australia, and made the top ten of both the UK and US. Later that year he released the live album Caught in the Act.

Band of the Week: AUDIOSLAVE

n the spirit of the supergroups of the past, two of the most important bands of the nineties have pooled their talents to create a new band: AUDIOSLAVE. On November 19th, Epic Records will release AUDIOSLAVE's self-titled debut album featuring former lead singer/guitarist of Soundgarden, Chris Cornell (Vocals) and Rage Against The Machine’s Tim Commerford (Bass), Tom Morello (Guitar), and Brad Wilk (Drums). AUDIOSLAVE was recorded in Los Angeles at Oceanway Studios with producer Rick Rubin.

Chris Cornell formed Soundgarden in 1985 and over the course of 12 years the group established themselves as one of the most influential rock bands of the nineties selling, over 20 million records worldwide. David Fricke writes in Rolling Stone, "On their ’94 master blast, Superunknown, Soundgarden blew a big, black hole through the burnt-boogie angst of heavy Muzak, managing to sound both fried and alive in the fine thunder-and-color tradition of late-period Led Zeppelin."

As Soundgarden continued to release critically acclaimed and platinum-selling albums, the music of Rage Against The Machine was bringing a fierce and uncompromising meld of punk-inspired hard rock and politically-charged rap to the mainstream charts. With the release of their self-titled debut in 1992 the face of rock music began to change.

"On the strength of the album," wrote Timothy White in Billboard, "they must be viewed as one of the most original and virtuosic new rock bands in the nation...Rage Against The Machine generates the most beautifully articulated torrent of hardcore bedlam that one could imagine. And the hopes invested in these humming murals of urban din are equally visionary." Rage Against The Machine went on to sell 15 million records worldwide.

AUDIOSLAVE contains 14 tracks (see attached tracklisting) including their first single and video "Cochise." The video for "Cochise" will be directed by Mark Romanek.

The 14 tracks on AUDIOSLAVE are the result of the band’s early time spent in their Los Angeles rehearsal space writing and jamming. During this writing and recording process, rough demos from the album were leaked to the internet. Obviously, these tracks are not representative of the final album as they were rehearsal demos. The members of AUDIOSLAVE look forward to bringing their completed album to the masses this Fall.

Photos

Incubus has remained an ever-changing and developing band throughout their history, evolving their sound and lyrical content through each of their four full-length albums, various EPs, soundtrack work and home DVDs.

It is this kinetic approach that has allowed them to survive throughout their 12-year career. 2003 has been an eventful year for the band and brought about several changes, including the replacement of founding member Dirk Lance with bass player Ben Kenney, former guitarist of the funk, hip-hop group The Roots.

After taking a much-needed break following more than two years of promoting Morning View, Incubus has been writing new material for their much-anticipated follow-up album. They plan to debut new songs for audiences across the country this summer when they head out on the legendary Lollapalooza tour as one of the mainstage artists. Incubus' major label debut landed in 1997 with Enjoy Incubus, an EP consisting of six revamped demos following their signing at Immortal/Epic Records. Later that year, with the release of S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Incubus hit the road in support of their first full-length album; something the band would continue to do virtually non-stop for the next six years. Their third album, Make Yourself, was released in October 1999 and became a catalyst for propelling Incubus into the mainstream music scene by spawning numerous hit singles. "Pardon Me", "Stellar" and "Drive" all settled in the top three spots on Billboard's Modern Rock chart in 2000 and 2001. In the summer of 2000, Incubus graduated to the main stage at the annual OzzFest tour, which exposed them to massive audiences. Following up with another coveted slot on Moby's eclectic Area: One Tour, their consistent touring coupled with the huge success of Make Yourself, made Incubus a household name. In October 2001 the group released their highly anticipated fourth album, Morning View. Morning View brought Incubus their most significant success to date, going platinum in just 10 weeks while Make Yourself continued to climb, selling over two million copies.

The momentum steadily gained around Morning View with the help of the lead single "Wish You Were Here," making it to the #2 spot on Billboard's Modern Rock chart. Following the hectic pace of the last few years, the band decided to take some well-deserved time off at the end of 2002. During their break, Mike and Jose needed an outlet for their creativity and formed a funk-jazz infused side project, Time-Lapse Consortium, also featuring Incubus bassist Ben Kenney, Neal Evans (Soulive), Suzie Katayama and an 11-piece orchestra.

The band has only played on two special occasions; one club appearance at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles in January and a live television stint this past April on Jimmy Kimmel Live, a late night television show. With Lollapalooza beginning, Incubus is ready to do what they love most. return to the stage to play their new material and begin a new journey with their fans.
